Arm & Elbow Conditions

There are two common arm and elbow conditions we treat.

  • Cervical Radiculopathy: A condition in which a nerve root in the cervical spine suffers damage or inflammation. This causes a number of symptoms including a pins-and-needles tingling sensation, dumbness, weakness, and pain in the shoulder that radiates down the arm and sometimes into the hand and fingers.
  • Phantom Limb Pain: When one is missing an arm, the brain may still register sensations associated with the missing limb. Symptoms usually include tingling sensations, feelings of hot and cold temperatures, and pain.

Our Idaho Falls pain doctors offer a number of treatments to manage these conditions.

Foot & Ankle Conditions

  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS): A condition of the peripheral and central nervous system that often affects the extremities. Symptoms include throbbing and burning pain, sensitivity to touch, swelling, and changes in skin temperature and color.
  • Phantom Limb Pain

General Body Conditions

  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia: A mysterious condition resulting in a general sense of fatigue, muscle tenderness, musculoskeletal pain, headaches, cognitive impairment, and difficulty sleeping.
  • Metastatic Cancer of the Spine: A condition in which cancer has spread to the spine from a different area of the body. This often causes pain due to tumors putting pressure on various spinal nerves.
  • Myofascial Pain Syndrome: The fascia is a matrix of connective tissue which attaches, encloses, stabilizes, and separates the muscles. Sensitive trigger points can develop on various areas of the fascia, causing chronic pain.
  • Neuropathy: A condition in which various nerves throughout the body malfunction, causing tingling, numbness, weakness, and pain.
  • Phantom Limb Pain
  • Piriformis Syndrome: A condition where the piriformis muscle (a muscle in the buttock region) spasms and causes pain in the buttock and sometimes along the back of the leg and into the foot.
  • Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN): The trigeminal nerve carries signals from the brain to the face. This condition is a problem of the trigeminal nerve which causes pain when the face is even mildly stimulated from acts like brushing your teeth.
  • Bursitis of the Hip: Inflammation of the bursa, which covers the bony point of the hip bone.
  • Joint Pain & Arthritis: A painful inflammation of one or more joints that causes stiffness and pain. This can be the result of a number of factors, including age and various autoimmune disorders.
  • Headaches & Migraines: Almost everyone experiences these from time to time, but when they become chronic and interfere with your daily routine, our Idaho Falls pain doctors can perform diagnostics and recommend treatment.
  • Post-operative Pain: Surgical operations can sometimes cause chronic pain, usually referred to as post-operative pain. This can happen for a number of reasons; most commonly, botched surgeries.
  • Chronic Abdominal Pain: Inflammation, liver disease, and parasitic infections often cause chronic abdominal pain. Our Idaho Falls pain doctors can determine the origin of your pain and recommend the right treatment option.
  • Chronic Pelvic Pain: There are a number of conditions that can cause chronic pelvic pain, including urinary tract infections (UTIs) or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
  • Intercostal Neuralgia: The intercostal nerves branch out from the spine, below the ribcage. This condition causes pain in the upper back, upper chest, and around the ribs. We offer a number of treatment options for this condition.
  • Post-thoracotomy Syndrome: A thoracotomy is a chest incision made to get access to various organs for surgery. Following this condition, some people can develop chronic pain.
  • Herpetic Neuralgia: Shingles can cause herpetic neuralgia, a condition of various nerve fibers of the skin that can persist long after shingles no longer appears on the skin. Symptoms include pain (usually a burning, shooting, throbbing pain), itching, numbness, and sensitivity to touch. Our Idaho Falls pain doctors can provide treatment for this condition.
  • There are a number of ways our Idaho Falls pain doctors can treat any one of the above general body conditions.

Head, Neck, & Spine Conditions

  • Cervical Radiculopathy
  • Coccydynia: A condition causing chronic pain in the tailbone as result of a bone fracture, herniated disc, or other problems.
  • Compression Fractures of the Spine: This is a condition in which the vertebrae become compressed and fracture, usually as a result of osteoporosis or cancer.
  • Degenerative Disc Disease: As we age, the discs that provide cushioning between the vertebrae begin to wear away. This often causes pain as the vertebrae impact each other with movement.
  • Facet Joint Syndrome: A condition similar to arthritis in which degenerative changes occur to the joints between the spine bones.
  • Herniated Disc Syndrome: This occurs when the soft inner section of a spinal disc is forced out through a tear in the hard outer layer and presses up against a nerve in the spine.
  • Lumbar Radiculopathy (Sciatica): This is a disease of the lumbar spinal nerve root, causing pain along the lower back and down one or both legs.
  • Post-Laminectomy Syndrome: A condition where back pain persists following back surgery to remove a part of a vertebra.
  • Spinal Stenosis: A narrowing of various spaces within the spine, putting pressure on the spinal nerves.
  • Spondylosis: A condition in which general wear-and-tear causes substantial damage to the spine, usually as a result of age.
  • Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN)

If you’re suffering from head, neck, and spine conditions that are causing chronic pain, our Idaho Falls pain doctors can provide accurate diagnostic exams and effective treatment for both short and long term pain relief.
